HIT THE REPLY BUTTON UP THERE to let me know what YOU think. ——^

My cover of Gungor’s “Beautiful Things,” from their wonderful album of the same name. If you don’t know them, and you enjoy your music with a dash of honest-to-goodness faith and joy and spiritual wrestling thrown in, you owe it to yourself to check them out right now. This is phenomenal Christ-driven creativity at work. Do it now. Seriously. I can’t recommend these guys enough.

I’ve spent the better part of this month working on this, always finding myself wanting to add just a little something more or tweak a little bit, wanting to release something truly at the best of my ability. I’d very much appreciate your time and feedback in what you think of this piece. Seriously, give it to me. I can handle brutal honesty. I thrive off of criticism.

And, as always, do yourself a favor and put on some headphones. Not just with my music, but with any music you’re seriously listening and giving your time to. You will enjoy all the little nuances of the piece so much more. I promise.

    Hey it’s the weekend! Woo!

Distortion and digitizer effects! Hooray my favorite!

Okay seriously. Electric Piano w/ distortion, beats with low-bit digitizer effects, and a nice cresting synth for good measure. And tambourine!

This entry is enjoyed best with a pair of headphones and a soothing beverage.

Been working on this one for a while, finally feel like I got it right.

Simple piano chord progression with some strings and electric piano support. Making use of dynamics and my MIDI - USB cable with this entry (Read: Hooray for touch sensitive keys!)

    Be smart, use headphones.
    Feedback always welcome.

    “Everlong/No Cars Go”

This is actually a couple of months old, but I never felt satisfied enough with it to post. I tried adding another guitar track, a bass line, a synth track… nothing ever fit. So today I just got tired of trying to add things and just fine-tuned the drum and acoustic tracks to sound nice together. Simplicity wins the day.

The acoustic track is based off of the Foo Fighters’ song “Everlong,” and the beat is inspired by Arcade Fire’s “No Cars Go.”

    Enjoy.

So I watched Tron: Legacy the other night (which was awesome, by the way), and the soundtrack got me thinking about making beats out of drum tracks with echo effects. So I sat down, played with echo effects for a little bit, and wrote a relatively simple drum track that sounds relatively complex just because of the echo. Threw in some pitchbending blips and a synth track for good measure, and came up with this track. I’m really pleased with the result.

Headphones (or a good sound system) recommended. If you’re listening to this, or any of my works, let me know what you think. I’m always open to feedback, good or bad.

    Enjoy!

I’m back at UNA, and thus have an abundance of free time before classes start Wednesday. Wrote this one last night, cleaned it up today.

Two synth pads, a synth lead, some crunchy drums, and the acoustic in Open-D playing the 12th fret harmonics with echo+tremelo effects.

    Feedback is always welcomed. Enjoy.

Playing the acoustic today. Drop-D tuning, with D shape chords around the neck. Added in a separate track with some single strum, 1/16-note filtered chords and some reverb, and another track of some acoustic-body percussion.  Snaps and claps to tie it all together.

    Enjoy.

*gasp!* I’m still here! I know it’s been a while since my last post, but I’ve been busy with camps and generally not being productive enjoying my summer break. Alas, I’ve been playing with this for a little more than a week now. Possibly going to expand it later…

I restrung my acoustic a couple of weeks ago, and I think my Tele’s getting a little jealous of how much attention I’ve been giving ol’ Bitterblue. This doodle’s been rolling around in my head for the past week and I needed to get it down on paper. It’s really simple, just a G chord shape fingerpicked and moved around the fretboard. The low E, the G, and the B strings are used, with the G staying open the whole time.

It’s a pretty versatile progression too. Since it’s written in G, the open string sounds good the entire time, and allows the chords to be stretched up pretty high (up to the 12th fret E in this doodle). It can even produce both major and minor chords.

Overall I’m pretty happy with this doodle. I’m glad to get it recorded, and I may return and flesh it out more later if an idea comes to me.
